Today's May Day march for immigration reform brought a rainbow coalition to downtown Los Angeles. That's been business as usual for the past few years, but this time there's a difference. With legislation headed to the floor of the US Senate, marchers wore T-shirts reading, the "TIME IS NOW." We hear about family unification and the role of organized labor. Also, UCLA has become a smoke-free campus — the first in the University System. We talk to supporters, critics of "Nanny-State" regulations and hear about the plight of secret smokers in health-conscious LA.

On our rebroadcast of today's To the Point, unemployment and slow growth in Europe are bringing an end to the "austerity" era of spending cuts and increased taxes. Was "austerity" a dangerous idea in the first place? Will new ideas about economic reality make a difference to politicians in Washington?
