    Impeachment: Call for witnesses

The Senate has again closed the doors and shut off the microphones to discuss whether to allow House Managers to call witnesses. The controversial witness list includes Monica Lewinsky, White House aide Sidney Blumenthal and Vernon Jordan, the friend of the President's. Prosecutors also put in a - quote - request for the appearance -- of President Clinton. Will the move galvanize support for Henry Hyde and his prosecution after his so-called "Hail Monica Pass" over the weekend? Or will it further divide Republican Senators... some of whom want to end the impeachment proceedings as soon as possible. Can Republicans mend what Newsweek calls a "full-scale disaster" when one G.O.P. pollster says "at this point for republicans there are only bad choices."
