Judge Keeps Same-Sex Marriages on Hold in California

Gay and lesbian couples thought they might be able to marry today, but were disappointed by Judge Vaughn Walker's latest ruling. Walker said, "Yes," but delayed the effect of his ruling so supporters of Proposition 8 can go to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Now, the hopeful couples will have to wait until next Wednesday to see if they'll get their wish. If that's not complicated enough, legal rules and procedures create even more uncertainty.
