    LA City Council Takes Another Look at Contentious Traffic Plan

    The car capital of the world is divided over the automobile versus public transit and bicycle riding. Mobility Plan 2035 would create a big, new network of bus and bicycle lanes—partly by shrinking the lanes now devoted to cars. Will lawsuits derail the project?

    The car capital of the world is divided over the automobile versus public transit and bicycle riding. Mobility Plan 2035 would create a big, new network of bus and bicycle lanes—partly by shrinking the lanes now devoted to cars. The City Council, which approved the project, is now taking it up again—because of a lawsuit by angry Westside drivers. Will lawsuits derail the project? We hear from Council members on both sides.

    Also on the program, the LAPD has opened fire almost twice as often this year as last year — killing 19 people. The new President of the Police Commission will tell us why he wants more public discussion.
