    The public hearings are over and the search begins in earnest this week for a new chief of the LAPD. We'll talk to some of the insiders who've applied for the job. What do they think is needed for one of the nation's key law enforcement agencies?

    Chief David Gascon: Deputy Chief, Chief of Staff of LAPD. Chief Mark Kroeker: Deputy Chief, Director of Administrative Services, LAPD. Chief Bernard Parks: Deputy Chief, Director of Operations, LAPD. Representative Charles Canady: Republican Congressman from Florida; today introducing legislation that would prohibit the federal government from granting preferences based on race or gender. Joe Domanick: Journalist, author of To Protect and Serve, a history of the LAPD until the 1992 riots; currently working on a story on the new chief selection for the LA Weekly.
