    Which Way, L.A.?

    March 5 Election Preview

Election day is two weeks away, but few voters know it. The date of California's statewide primary has changed, as have the rules and the location of many polling places. But even those "in the know" may not bother to turn out. Pollsters are estimating a Republican turnout of just 35 percent, with Democrats even less likely to go to the polls. What will that mean for Richard Riordan and his opponents in the Governor's race? For term limits, transportation and state park bonds? Mark Baldassare, of the Public Policy Institute of California, Kim Alexander of the California Voter Foundation, and Dick Rosengarten, editor of California Political Week, help us shed a little light on another confusing episode of Democracy in California.
