    Middle East: Perception vs. Reality

For peace to prevail in the aftermath of the failed Camp David summit, President Clinton says Jews and Palestinians "must be prepared to resolve profound question of history, identity and national faith." In Israel, it turns out that such questions are now being hotly debated. For their part, Palestinians are struggling not just to prove their case but to counter what they see as insensitivity and mis-representation of their cause, especially in the United States. Newsmaker: LAUSD's new Superintendent, former Governor Roy Romer, wants to take another look at the Belmont learning Center. He's asked the board for 800,000 dollars to find out what it would cost and how long it would take to clean up the site and open the Learning Center.
