Mr. Marcos Goes to Mexico City

After a 2100-mile journey from the state of Chiapas, Zapatistas have arrived in Mexico City to push legislators to grant limited autonomy to Mexico's Indians. It's been seven years since the masked Zapatista leader Subcomandante Marcos began the rebellion that raised Mexican awareness and indigenous pride. Does he now have a strategy to broker such a deal within the constraints of government? We look at this test of Mexico's new democracy with an anthropologist, a journalist tracking the caravan, and international policy expert Denise Dresser. (Kyle McKinnon guest hosts.) Newsmaker: Jury Selection Begins in Algerian Terrorist's Trial - A highly charged international terrorist conspiracy trial opened today in Los Angeles under extraordinary security. Ahmed Ressam has been charged with trying to smuggle bomb-making equipment into the US from Canada. Doug Saunders, of Canada's The Globe and Mail, describes the scene, security, and alleged sequence of events.
