    Mayor Villagraigosa has chosen Deputy Chief Charlie Beck to succeed Bill Bratton as Chief of the LAPD. We hear from both men and get reaction from a cross section of city figures.       In Marrakesh, Morocco, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told Arab leaders the US will deliver on President Obama's promise of a "new start" with the Muslim world.  But first she backed away from earlier statements denounced by some of those same leaders as threatening to set back the Israeli-Palestinian peace process by ten years.

      LA Gets a New Police Chief

      To succeed Bill Bratton , Mayor Antonio Villagraigosa has picked Charlie Beck as the next Chief of the LAPD.  He's 56 and currently Deputy Chief in charge of Detectives. Beck's father served the LAPD for 30 years and retired as a deputy chief, an experience he says has enabled him to see both the "ghosts and the glory."
