    Schwarzenegger Picks Conservative for Agriculture, Liberal Might lead EPA

    California-s Republican Governor-elect made another major appointment today, that of Secretary of Food and Agriculture. AG Kawamura is an Orange County strawberry farmer with ties to Agribusiness. Sources involved in putting together the new administration say that Schwarzenegger will name environmentalist Terry Tamminen as Secretary of Environmental Protection. We get response to the newest cabinet selections, and ask a Conservative Republican who had doubts about Schwarzenegger if he-s disappointed or pleased. Making News: State Cuts Impact Californian-s Everyday Lives Budget cuts are already beginning in California as Governor Gray Davis implements the Legislative mandate to reduce this year-s spending by $1.1 billion. John Hill, state budget reporter for the Sacramento Bee, details several of the services being cut through layoffs, cancellation of temporary contracts and the elimination of vacant positions.
