State Parolees Headed for LA County This Weekend
Los Angeles County will get the bulk of the inmates and parolees being released to ease overcrowding in state prisons, as ordered by federal courts. Since a process called "realignment," some 15,000 will be sent here, starting day after tomorrow. Governor Jerry Brown called realignment "the most viable way to comply" with the order.

Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley called it "the state's budget crisis tail wagging the public safety dog" and said that the public would have to pay for the state's budget crisis "through increased victimization and the cost of increased crime." We hear about parolees to be supervised by the County Probation Department.
