LA's elected City Controller doesn't control the city, but he or she does have subpoena power to investigate how well city departments are doing their jobs. On May 21, there's a run-off election billed as the Outsider versus the Insider. Does attorney Ron Galperin know the government well enough to find out what's wrong? Does City Councilman and former policeman Dennis Zine know it too well to be tough enough on former colleagues and associates? They're in our studios for a debate. Also, traumatic brain injury. KCRW's Saul Gonzalez talks with a combat veteran with a bullet still in his head.

On our rebroadcast of today's To the Point, the Boston Marathon bombings have renewed calls for Muslim Americans to be on the alert for potential extremists—as well as warnings against scapegoating and collective punishment. We talk with several American Muslims.
