The Living Wage in Santa Monica
Ever the city trying to stand out from the crowd, Santa Monica is looking closely at a "living wage" for workers of certain businesses in its tourist districts closest to the beach. Will raising the minimum wage to $10.69 an hour cut seriously into the profits of, or even destroy, some of those businesses? Can workers survive on wages below that $10.69 level?
