Making News: 7,000 Los Angeles County Parolees at Large Today-s Daily News reports that 7,000 felons have failed to report to parole officers in LA County alone. State Corrections Department records show many felons are "at large" with arrest warrants issued. Several have been arrested and charged with violent crimes, including the recent killing of a Los Angeles Sheriff-s Deputy. Daniel Macallair is Executive Director of the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice in Oakland. Reporter's Notebook: Will Ethics Scandal Bring Down a San Diego Congressman? Eight-term Republican Congressman Randy -Duke- Cunningham, former top-gun Navy fighter pilot, loves the Fourth of July. But he missed yesterday-s pancake breakfast in Encinitas, saying -he didn-t want to bring any negativity.- Reporters there were waiting to ask about the FBI raid on Cunningham-s Rancho Santa Fe home and the Washington grand jury probing financial ties with a military contractor. Political scientist Carl Luna elaborates on Cunningham's problems.
