Water-Wasting Water Officials

Californians cut water consumption in August by 11% as compared to last year. That’s the third month in a row of reductions. If that’s not enough, water officials threaten rationing. Californians cut water consumption in August by 11% as compared to last year. That’s the third month in a row of reductions. If that’s not enough, water officials threaten rationing. But what are they doing themselves? The Center for Investigative Reporting found three officials used more a million gallons. Over half used more water last year than the year before. The Metropolitan Water District supplies water to 19 million Southern Californians.

Randy Record is Chair of the Board of Directors. Last year, he reportedly used 1300 gallons a day—more than twice the average in Southern California.
