Not like the guys on the basketball court. We're talking real trash, the many tons produced every day in Los Angeles, and where it's all going to end up when the massive Puente Hills Landfill shuts down on Halloween. Also, consider that no trash at all would be the sign of an economy stopped dead in its tracks. Is there a way, not just to recycle trash and sell it to China, but to turn it into a commodity here at home? And, speaking of waste, what about junk mail?

On our rebroadcast of today's To the Point, three days of deadly terror for civilian shoppers at a mall in Nairobi: one reporter who’s lived there for 7 years, calls it the attack Kenya’s been dreading for years. We get the background — and potential motivation -- of al-Shabab, the terrorist group in neighboring Somalia.
