begins today.

Frank McCourt surrendered ownership of the team, and Guggenheim Baseball, led by Magic Johnson and incoming Dodgers President Stan Kasten, put down the final payment on the record $2.15 billion to control the historic franchise. They’re now the third owner since the O’Malleys sold the team in 1998. The new ownership team has scheduled a news conference for tomorrow morning.

Bill Shaikin is the national baseball writer for The Los Angeles Times and spoke to KCRW’s Steve Chiotakis about what the change in ownership means for fans.
