A Tribute to Spalding Gray

This week Lincoln Center will host a memorial to the late Spalding Gray. The body of the writer, actor and performer was found in the East River near Brooklyn on March 7, after being reported missing in January. Created for KCRW by independent producer Jon Kalish, the tribute features extended excerpts from performances recorded by Kalish, who interviewed Gray several times for National Public Radio in the months and years after Gray's tragic auto accident in Ireland. In addition, Kalish speaks to actor-playwright Eric Bogosian, who was a friend of Gray-s; Pacifica Radio host Mike Feder, whose on-air story-telling Gray cited as a major influence on his own work; and others who were influenced by Gray.
