Audible Ticks to the Clocks

Good morning and good afternoon,If you’re a regular listener to Morning Edition and All Things Considered, you’ve probably noticed some changes in how these programs sound: Specifically, shifts in the times when you hear news updates and underwriting credits.The alterations are part of a nationwide project to update the two signature NPR programs based on an extensive series of audience surveys and internal discussions. KCRW and other stations around also had input, with NPR making the final decisions on how the clocks would work. The changes were launched on November 17.In the weeks leading up, KCRW reworked our production systems to adapt to the new clocks as smoothly as possible. Our aim, as always, is to provide our audience with timely news, traffic and weather, as well as special features, in the most engaging package possible. As such, we know that it can be jarring when the rhythm you’ve come to rely on is disrupted.Please know that our producers, hosts and technicians are working tirelessly to make the new clocks work. We’ve tried a few creative maneuvers – and suffered a few stumbles – in last several days as we’ve worked to find our feet. We will keep at it and will be glad to hear from you if you have concerns or ideas. Know that most of the breaks are fixed in time, so we cannot go back to the way it was.
