Badly Drawn Boy is a favorite performer on MBE. When he joins us we catch up like old friends revealing intimate moments that have occurred in each other’s absence with the added bonus that he shares new songs with us.
Our session at The Village was special, just Damon on acoustic and electric guitars – occasionally accompanied by guitarist Mike TV — and sometimes alone at their gorgeous piano.
He’s a masterful storyteller, whether he’s sharing an anecdote or singing. “Is There Nothing We Could Do” is on the soundtrack to the U.K. film “The Fattest Man” which hasn’t come out Stateside. It’s a gorgeous tune, just one of many from the session, where he also talked to Jason about the expectation and disappointment of a career in music.
