is my favorite track on the new DJ Shadow record because it’s a collaboration with another stellar band, Little Dragon. In fact, the seeds of this pairing were sown at a KCRW event! Both artists played our first annual Masquerade Halloween party and were scheduled in the same room…the rest, as they say, is history.

Now, DJ Shadow is hosting a remix competition around the track and has already received 400 submissions, including one from KCRW’s own Jeremy Sole.

DJ SHADOW ft. LITTLE DRAGON – Scale It Back (Jeremy Sole Remix) by Jeremy Sole

From Jeremy:

“It was an honor to put my spin on this beautiful piece of music by two of my all-time favorites, and my remix is something I’m wholly proud of. It’s also personally rewarding because I’m finally getting up the nerve to play more live instruments on my production. It was a treat to have my friends (and huge inspirations) REED MATHIS on bass, and if you listen carefully you can hear the subtle acoustic guitar of DAMON AARON on the two chorus sections.

My plan was to take the “un-remix” approach and bring these two always-progressive artists back to a traditional, timeless songwriting style, in my own way of course. I also wanted to give Yukimi’s voice more room to breath, as if she’s whispering to you in your ear about a dream she just had.

I sincerely hope you dig it, and if so please click HERE and on the following page click “SAVE TO FAVORITES” to help me win this sucker.Either way thanks for listening!”
