Sound architect DJ Shadow is a pioneer in electronic music and he brought a special set into KCRW’s studio today for his live Morning Becomes Eclectic performance. The turntablist debuted a new mix called “All Basses Covered”, which will be featured at some of his upcoming East Coast tour dates.

He tells Jason during the interview that he is a purist who embraces technology and a crate digger who also loves new music. He spends a lot of time listening to new tracks and, while he doesn’t necessarily play the “hits” of the moment, he swaps out songs in his set every few months to keep things fresh.

Aside from that world premiere, you can also check out a split-screen video of him performing “Organ Donor Megamix” below, as well as an unaired interview recorded after the session.
