When the Flaming Lips performed on Morning Becomes Eclectic this past October, they brought a special pre-Halloween treat – a cover of Pink Floyd’s song “Eclipse” off “Dark Side of the Moon.” It was the first time they had performed it live and Wayne Coyne told us they planned to cover the entire album. Lo and behold, it is out today exclusively on iTunes. We’re doubly excited because our own Henry Rollins is featured on the record.

If I could magically appear anywhere on New Year’s Eve, I would attend the Flaming Lips’ show in Oklahoma City where they will be playing “Dark Side of the Moon” in its entirety at midnight. The Lips’ live shows are already legendary and I can only imagine the psychedelic freak out that will accompany the world’s largest balloon drop AND the world’s largest mirror ball. I’m glad Wayne and Co are around to keep pushing the boundaries.
