Freedom Fry – “The Words”

If there are three things we like around these parts, two of them are “freedom” and “French fries.” The third is, of course, good music, and so having a brand new track from French/American duo Freedom Fry completely hits the spot!

Hot on the heels of prior internet success with a series of chart-topping tracks on The Hype Machine, the local married couple of Marie Seyrat & Bruce Driscoll offer up “The Words,” a new track that combines a retro-futurist electronic pulse a la Air with jangly hooks & sing-along choruses reminiscent of Turin Brakes.

In the bands own words: “We were messing around in the studio and came up with this hybrid, disco-folk song. It’s written from the perspective of a boyfriend or girlfriend who just needs to hear that they’re still wanted. We really liked that the lyric “Just say the words” kind of also sounds like “Je sais the words.” “Je sais” means “I know” in French.”
