Spoon front-man, Britt Daniel is back at it with a new band called Divine Fits. The “super-group” is a new project with Wolf Parade‘s Dan Boeckner and Sam Brown of The New Bomb Turks.

Divine Fits have been sitting on top of the charts here at KCRW for the past few weeks, and we are excited to host the group for an Apogee session tomorrow night. The band will perform a live set and an interview with KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox. It will air later this month on Morning Becomes Eclectic. We’d love to have a few of you join us for this rare and intimate opportunity. Details below.

But first, I wanted to share this radio piece with you, because I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly, twice now! John Schaefer over at sister station WNYC invited KCRW DJ Anne Litt on Soundcheck to chat about Britt Daniel and his “musical evolution.” It’s a great listen! My favorite part is when she talks about what Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner brings to the sound, “Nerdy New Wave, emo electric!!!” Anne really helps move the listener through the relationship between the 3 dudes from different groups and helps us to identify with the new sound of Divine Fits, and how it is the product of an evolution that preceded its invention.

KCRW’s Berkeley Street Sessions is the most intimate series we’ve ever produced, and what makes it really special is the location, the private recording studio of legendary producer/mixer, Bob Clearmountain. With sound far superior to any live venue and a capacity of just 150 guests, this series caters to core music lovers who want to experience an artist up close. So basically, this is awesome. I’m going, and I hope to see you there!
