The Global Drum Project takes its name from the recent CD featuring former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and tabla king Zakir Hussein. These gents performed on the groundbreaking Planet Drum album in 1991 which forever changed the way world music was perceived.

Back to 2008 and The Global Drum project is on tour in a number of US states during October including the beautiful Royce Hall on the UCLA campus in Westwood on October 9th It then goes on to Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and Texas –

Boss Sounds Festival which takes place live and direct from the Newcastle Carling Academy on the 18th and 19th October. Acts lined up to appear include Sly and Robbie, Ska Cubano, the UK’s Misty In Roots,The Pioneers known for "Long Shot Kick the Bucket" and "Let Your Yeah Be Yeah".

Kicking off their UK tour at Boss Sounds is Mark Rae’s new project Yesking in support of their CD ‘Rock This World’ Although Mark lives in Los Angeles these days his home town is infact Newcastle so expect a great homecoming show from Yes King.

Musicport is the UK’s largest indoor world music event - which is just as well given the UK’s notoriously bad weather! The venue is located just by the Yorkshire seaside at The Spa in Bridlington. It takes place October 17 and 18th and features Toumani Diabate, Reem Kelani and Liana collaborating on a new project called ‘From Palestine to Portugal’, Aussie superstar Rolf Harris and legendary Billy Cobham .

Tickets are still available and are cheaper than last year!
