Golden Globe-Winning Composer Alex Ebert at Sundance

Alex Ebert (of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) won a Golden Globe for composing the score to “All is Lost”, starring Robert Redford, the founder of the Sundance Film Festival, so it was a full circle experience to chat with him here in Park City about his work on the film.

He had lovely things to say about Redford, mentioning that they bonded over the fact they both grew up in the Valley.

He told Jason Bentley he used to tell the managers of his previous band, Ima Robot, “I’m not a musician I’m a filmmaker!” and hints that he might pursue that kind of artistic expression in the future.

He’s in town meeting with filmmakers about future score work and hints that a live double album from his band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is in the works.
