Gui Boratto: Artist You Should Know

Back in 2007, Brazilian producer Gui Boratto released a veritable KCRW favorite LP called “Chromophobia“ that featured an absolutely, indelible single called, “Beautiful Life“.

Occupying a blissful space between Techno and House, “Beautiful Life” was (and is) one of those extraordinary tracks that are so emotive you remember where you were the first time you heard it.

In early 2007, I was KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley‘s production assistant, and one Friday night in studio he played it…and like Matthew Dear‘s “Deserter” it immediately became one of those tracks that elicits a near perfect feeling.

Now, several years and releases later, Boratto has released a new single called “Take Control” that elicits that old familiar feeling.

Collaborating with Brazilian production duo Come and Hell, Boratto revisits the ecstatic energy of “Beautiful Life” but gives it a thicker low end chug that updates the vibes substantially.

Plus, the single features a couple of remarkable reworks by Argentinian warehouse beasts DJ Pareja and also versions by Danny Daze and Weval that explore facets of the track in completely different ways but never compromise the original tracks’ groove.

“Take Control” and all it’s variations are absolute stunners that command your attention and will do so all summer long and long after.
