Halloween
It's October and therefore Halloween is fast approaching, so we’ll check out some ghoulish events in Los Angeles, Honolulu and New Orleans as well as taking a look at the line up for Neil Young’s Bridge School concert.
The Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles is the venue for the Hard Haunted Mansion event on Halloween with music from Justice, Soulwax, Simian Mobile Disco and Crystal Castles & DJIng by KCRW’s own Jason Bentley.
Monster Massive claims to be Americas largest Halloween dance music festival and the LA Sports Arena will be transformed into one huge haunted house with rooms called Witches Woods and Tomb of Doom. Some of the DJs that’ll be keeping the spooks on the dance floor all night include Pete Tong, Judge Jules, , James Lavelle and Felix Da Housecat.
Now over to Hawaii for the inaugural Hallowbaloo festival taking place in the historic Honolulu Arts District and featuring six stages of entertainment. The extensive music line up includes Maceo Parker, Mad Professor , local group Ooklah the Moc, The Helio Sequence – as well as KCRW fave Brett Dennen who’ll be performing his first ever show in Hawaii.
Voodoo Experience in New Orleans. Taking place over the weekend of October 24h artists include Devotchka. TV on the Radio and Eryka Badu and each night is closed out by the Extra Action Marching Band.
The Bridge School on October 25 and 26th– as always it’s a great list of performers – Wilco , Jack Johnson, Cat Power , ZZ Top and ofcourse, Neil Young.
