Fanatic. I hope you had a tremendous week and are gearing up for an even better weekend. I’ve been slightly off my game over the last few days as far as getting time in front of the speakers. That’s not to say I haven’t been doing music-oriented work. We just cut the lacquers on a project Larry Hardy and I have been working on for the last several weeks. The parts are all at the pressing plant and we are eagerly awaiting test pressings. Of course, I will keep you in the loop on the progress of this project. I can say that I think you’re going to really dig it. So, that’s some good news and there’s even more good news. We just started preliminary work on yet another incredibly cool project. We are set to master in a couple of weeks. No idea when this one’s coming out, but it will, and I think you’re going to find it very much to your liking.

If you are a fan of SUNN 0))), their new album came out today. Can’t wait to hear this one.

Here’s information on the very cool Dion Lunadon album that’s coming out soon. Not soon enough for my liking! https://dionlunadon.bandcamp. com/album/rare-gems-volume-one

I just got word that Bettina Köste of the great German band Malaria passed away last month. The first time I went to Berlin, when it was still called West Berlin, at the beginning of 1983, I was immediately fascinated by the city and what I understood the music scene. Several records and many hours of listening later, I became a huge fan. Malaria was one of the first bands, I heard. I Bettina in Berlin on a later tour. We’ve listened to Malaria a few times on the show. Really great music and part of an amazing music scene.

Stephanie Chernikowski, the excellent photographer, who documented the music scene in NYC for decades, passed away two days ago. She was an amazing artist and a truly good person. There’s a very good chance you’ve seen her photos. You need look no further than the cover of the Cramps’ Gravest Hits 12”. Years ago, I was working on a record for Alan Vega. We needed press photos. I knew that Alan, while extraordinarily photogenic, was not exactly a fan of sitting still for a photo session. That’s why I asked Stephanie if she would do it. She photographed Suicide many times and I knew that Alan liked her and that we would get great shots between her talent, and Alan being relaxed around her. She asked me if I had any requests. I said beyond her doing her thing, I would like to get some shots with the lighting was such that she made Alan look like a silent film star. The portrait is my absolute favorite of Alan. Her photos of Roky Erickson are amazing. She made a book of her photographs called Dream Baby Dream Images From The Blank Generation that’s worth finding.

Several days ago, music producer extraordinaire Nick Launay contacted me and said he’d just finished a record with the Gang Of Four. No way! He sent me some tracks. They’re really good. There’s no set date for release yet. He asked if I wanted to play the track No Kings Here on the show. You will find it in our second hour. Big thanks to Nick and the band for letting us play the song for you.

I just got sent in advance of an album that’s coming out in June. It’s a collaboration with Lee Perry and Mouse On Mars, called Spatial, No Problem. You can hear a track now. We’ll start it in May.

A reissue of the Sheriff Lindo album Aftershock Dubs comes out in May. Very cool record.

We hope you enjoy tonight’s gathering of tunes and that you have a splendid and safe weekend. Be good and stay Fanatic
