**Update: Read a write up of the event here!**

KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley will be hosting the keynote discussion for the 2011EMPPop Conference, a gathering of music writers, scholars and fans, that comes to LA for the first time this year.

The panel will feature core KCRW artists Moby, Raphael Saadiq, and Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio/Maximum Balloon) talking about “How Musicians Make Do and Keep their Souls Alive in a Changing Pop World.”

It takes place on Saturday, February 26 from 8-9:30 pm at Lenart Auditorium inside the Fowler Museumon the UCLA campus.

The event is free and open to the public!

I attended the EMPPop Conference in Seattle a few years back and it was absolutely fascinating. There are so many talks about so many different topics that there is something for every music lover.

It was held at the EMP buidling (a must-see if you’re in the area) and I’m excited that all these incredible folks speaking at the conference will be here in our backyard this time around (Chuck Klosterman Greil Marcus, Robert Christgau, Simon Reynolds, Jody Rosen, Jon Caramanica, The Guardian UK’s Indie Professor and more)

The event is free but you can register and find out more information here.

**PLEASE NOTE THAT SPACE IS LIMITED SO ARRIVE EARLY!!
