I have the extreme pleasure of being able to walk down the hall from my desk and see some of the best bands in the world. We don’t take it for granted, believe me, and Music Director Jason Bentley wanted to share some of his favorites with you. He put together his Top 10 Performances of 2009. The list includes soul singer Mayer Hawthorne, who made his debut here at the station, as well as a set from Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johannson. They liked their set so much, they recently released 5 of the live tracks as an EP, including their cover of The Pretenders’ “Stop Your Sobbin’” – a special treat they put together at the last minute just for us (they had to print the lyrics off a computer in the studio). Also, one-woman band Theresa Andersson pretty much floored all of us with her performance. Check out all his picks, and links to the video/audio of the performances in the archives, here: http://kcrw.com/mbetop10
