We are living in complicated times. And it’s not surprising that many of the artists coming through our studio have expressed their despair, confusion, and frustration — as well as hope — through song.

As My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James told MBE host Jason Bentley: “music is one of the tools for dealing with the harsh realities of life,” and he approached it by releasing an album of covers called Tribute To 2. He said the theme for all of them is “hopefully, relief.”

Jim popped by our studio to perform a short solo acoustic set, and it was absolutely stunning. It truly felt like time stood still, especially when he played “The World Is Falling Down,” an Abbey Lincoln cover.

If you’re seeking a little solace from the craziness of the world, this will certainly help.

“Baby Don’t Go” (Sonny & Cher Cover)

“Wild Honey” (Diane Izzo Cover)
