Jason Bentley was spinning Jolie Holland’s track “Gold and Yellow” off her new album “Pint of Blood” quite a bit this summer. For the first couple spins I thought, “Is this new Lucinda Williams?” until I finally realized it was the husky vocals of the Texas native, who was one of the founding members of beloved Americana band The Be Good Tanyas.

The album, her fifth solo release, was recorded mostly live in her home studio and you can feel the warmth in the songs. It’s a perfect fit for this rainy LA day. She’s here for an early show at the Bootleg Theater tonight at 7:30pm and I highly recommend dropping by.
