KCRW DJ Henry Rollins is Wild About Snakes

I have a confession: It took me a while to appreciate Henry Rollins’ KCRW show. It wasn’t until I went to see his Rare Cuts & Conversations evening at The Echoplex last year that I finally GOT IT.

Henry is a mesmerizing storyteller and host. He’s the only person who can get me to listen to bands like Sexual Milkshake or Dante vs. Zombies because I know that whatever it is he’s playing, he has some interesting anecdote or enlightening story – a unique perspective into the greatness of a song or an artist I might not have understood otherwise.

So, while I normally cringe at the thought of anything involving reptiles, Nat Geo’s announcement that Henry Rollins will host their new series WILD ABOUT SNAKES makes me think I might have to suck it up and watch some snake action. Not just any snake action either – the program promises to get an up close look at the worlds’ most dangerous snakes as well as their breeders and collectors. Henry was chosen to host the series in part because is a self-described snake addict with three snake tattoos and a snake that travels with him when he’s on tour.

I don’t think I’ll ever want to join the underground community of snake collectors the Nat Geo’s series is set to highlight, but with Henry as host, I’m hopeful that maybe I can cultivate a small love for earth’s slithery friends.
