We’ve been waiting a long time to host Angel Olsen in studio and it was everything we hoped for.

I have to give a massive thanks to Arcade Fire for giving her a reason to stop through our fair city — she opened for them at The Forum, just the second arena show she had ever played.

Angel was still riding the wave of her first arena gig when she popped by our studio to record this session, which includes band-backed favorites, as well as a sneak peek into her forthcoming album of b-sides and rarities, Phases.

Today, we have the great pleasure to premiere this exclusive live version of “Sans”.

Playing a handful of songs solo on acoustic guitar after a full band set didn’t seem strange at all, just two sides of the same coin.

And she tells host Chris Douridas in a revealing interview that she revels in being able to do both, but that she’s releasing this album now so she can tour solo next year.

And boy are we looking forward to that after hearing this!!

Tune in to hear the full session on MBE Monday, November 13.
