DJ Valida is an avid participant in the Los Angeles music scene and is officially joining the KCRW DJ ranks alongside Marion Hodges and Jason Kramer as part of The Lab, on rotating Sundays from 3 to 6am.

From KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley:

“Valida has shown an unwavering commitment to edgy new music deejaying in the greater Los Angeles area over the past decade. She is well-suited to compliment the KCRW airwaves with her winning taste and instinct for the most exciting sounds around.

Originally from Sarajevo, Valida fled a heavily conflicted Bosnia to pursue higher education in the US. She founded her first club night in LA in 2001 and was dubbed by LA.com as “one of the most important figures in L.A.’s nightlife scene” by 2006. Her worldliness is reflected in her varied music selections, a seamless blend of everything imaginable. She continues to tour the world as a DJ, including gigs in Paris, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Tokyo, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Barbados, and her native Bosnia.

Valida will represent KCRW, alongside DJs Garth Trinidad, Raul Campos and Jeremy Sole, this Sunday, November 7 at the LA Weekly’s LA 101 festival at the Gibson Amphitheater. KCRW DJs will be on an outdoor stage on the concourse spinning from 2:30 to 7pm, followed by performances from Thievery Corporation and Massive Attack on the Main Stage. Local indie rockers Saint Motel, Red Cortez and Voxhaul Broadcast will also play on a separate CityWalk Stage.
