KCRW is the radio sponsor for the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk, which happens the second Thursday of every month and is free and open to the public. KCRW’s own Anthony Valadez will be there spinning. Also, I asked Art Walk Executive Director Jay Lopez to recommend a few stops for tonight’s event.

Details and Recomendations below!

Recommendations from Jay Lopez:

For Your Pleasure @ CB1 Gallery

CB1 Gallery is very pleased to present “For Your Pleasure,” an exhibition featuring the work of ten CB1 Gallery artists: Chuck Agro

Chen Chieh-Jen: Empires Borders II– Western Enterprises, INC. @ REDCAT

Chen Chieh-jen’s powerful and haunting body of films examines the history of Taiwan within the larger context of globalization. In this exhibition, Chen presents a newly commissioned work entitled Empire’s Borders II – Western Enterprises, Inc. Inspired by his own difficulties in acquiring a visa to enter the United States, this multimedia video installation explores ideas of borders and boundaries within a shifting geopolitical landscape while also reflecting on the history of Taiwan-U.S. relations. Through Chen’s characteristically charged re-enactments, the figures in the film encounter the ghosts of history and move through the vacuous spaces of struggle, absence and erasure, which echo present-day realities.
