    EAT: Starry Kitchen

    This week, Jonathan Gold recommends Starry Kitchen, the cult favorite that is now in its third location (it’s now housed at Tiara Cafe). Order the Singapore chile crab, bo la lat, xo fried rice, claypot striped bass, crispy tofu balls, apple fritters and osmanthus panna cotta.

    Meet Jake Bugg, “an 18-yr-old UK kid with the nasal-toned twang of Woody Guthrie and pop sensibility of Donovan”, according to DJ Travis Holcombe. His album comes out in the U.S next year and here’s a taste so you know why our DJs are so excited.

    SEE: Drawing Surrealism

    Hunter Drohojowska-Philp calls this exhibit “rich, dense, time-consuming and completely enjoyable.” Head to LACMA to see surrealist drawings from big names like Dali and Magritte as well as artists from around the world.

    WATCH: AFI Fest

    If film is your thing, head to Hollywood to check out AFI Fest 2012. They’re screening everything from the blockbuster “Lincoln” to indie shorts and documentaries. The fest runs through November 8.
