SEE: The 2000 Sculpture

Edward Goldman calls Walter de Maria’s work monumental and impressive. The 2000 white plaster rods arranged in a complex geometric grid and stretching more than 160 feet are now on display at LACMA’s Resnick Pavilion.

GIANT LINCOLN LOGS

EAT: Hot Pot

Yet another reason to visit San Gabriel this week besides an excursion to the great mall of China: Little Sheep for hot pot. Be sure to try Jonathan Gold’s favorite sauce combination: sesame oil, a lot of chile, and a dash of sweet soy sauce.

BAAH

LISTEN: The Shins

Indie pop purveyors, The Shins, are touring behind their excellent new album “Port of Morrow”. Frontman James Mercer has hit his stride as a songwriter and performer and their live shows never disappoint. They’re playing at the Gibson Amphitheater on Oct. 2 – be there!

GOOD STUFF

GO: The Rivals

To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Tim Robbins and the folks over at The Actors Gang are staging Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s 250 year old masterpiece, “The Rivals,” directed by David Schweizer. George Washington’s favorite play is at The Actor’s Gang in Culver City through mid-November.

GANGING UP

PLAY: IndieCade

With mobile gaming on the rise, independent games are more important than ever! Get your game on at this weekend’s IndieCade festival in Culver City – it’s like the “Sundance” for video games.

ARE YOU GAME?
