I flew to NYC for fashion week for Clover Canyon’s fall/winter 2013 collection. Los Angeles-based Rozae Nichols, the force behind the brand, asked me to provide a soundtrack for their show at Lincoln Center and I was thrilled to be able to help her out and attend.

The icy mix of music features Ultraista, Sigur Ros, Future Islands and the Bulgarian Women’s Choir and you can stream it below.

The clothes are vivid and gorgeous. This collection is inspired by opulent Russian culture — The Hermitage, winter ice palaces, Faberge eggs and Russian Ballet.

As you’ll see they were on pointe! Each piece is a wearable work of art.

The show was a presentation, meaning that instead of a runway show, these models were all lined up in order to truly see the stunning details. The whole production came together in hours much like a remote radio broadcast.

Behind the scenes there were 25 models being fussed over by a dozen hair stylists, a dozen makeup artists and a dozen manicurists. At the same time, a rugged crew set about dismantling the previous show as scrims, lighting and music had to come together within a couple of hours.

Final details were put on Swarovski encrusted shoes (see below) and finally the girls all have to be impeccably dressed and look serene and beautiful.

With so much commotion and chaos the vibe was buoyant and excitement filled the air. That mission was accomplished.

It was striking to see the whole event come together as writers, editors and paparazzi started streaming in. Enjoy the mix!
