There are many Greek things that have found a home here in Los Angeles: the Greek Theater, Greek yogurt, Steve Chiotakis, and now Greek band Keep Shelly in Athens! At least they’ve found a home at revered local record label, Friends of Friends, who are scheduled to release their upcoming full-length, Now I’m Ready, on 10/16. And to celebrate we are happy to premiere the Different Sleep remix of the album track, “Benighted.”

Switching labels is not the only thing new about the album, as new singer Myrtha makes her mark on the band. Keep Shelly in Athens’ core sound remains the same though, a perfect marriage between a 4AD-style dreamy atmosphere and a more 21st Century beat-driven rhythm. And on this remix, Different Sleep (newly relocated to LA, and a fellow FoF labelmate) adds an extra level of dynamic, dancefloor-ready textures to “Benighted,” one of the album’s signature tracks. It’s no wonder fan Garth Trinidad calls it “a very danceable dream-wave banger.” To that, we can only add, “Opa!!!”

Keep Shelly in Athens returns to the States for a tour this fall, including a local stop at Club Bahia on 11/18.
