Laura Mvula. Wow. There was no shortage of compliments going around after her performance on KCRW, which was her U.S. radio debut. Pretty much anyone who heard the British soul singer was blown away.

KCRW news anchor Chery Glaser walked out of the news booth with her hand over her heart. Jason Bentley called her a “revelation”. Anne Litt said she took her breath away.

Her music is deeply beautiful and performed with such heart and soul that you can feel it. In a world of many disposable things – cultural and otherwise — her music makes a good case for holding on, tight.

Her band including two siblings and she complimented their talents in her interview with Jason, where she talked about her classical musical training. The entire set is incredible, including a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature“, and is worth a listen.
