I communicated with Ernest Greene, the musician behind Washed Out, in November 2009. Jason Bentley was spinning “Feel it All Around” and I wanted to let him know he was getting some attention on the West Coast. He had been out of the country celebrating his honeymoon and was just returning to real life in Georgia.

Since then, I think his life has been quite a whirlwind. A project that started in his bedroom really took off and now he has a full length album set for release on Sub Pop records called “Within and Without.”

One track “Eyes Be Closed” has been making the rounds on the blogs and our airwaves for the last couple months and now we’re happy to offer “Amor Fati”.

Stream “Amor Fati”

I know the term “chillwave” has been thrown around a lot but if you have any other way to describe atmospheric, synth-heavy music that somehow makes you feel like your soaring through the sky without a care in the world, I’d love to hear it.

The album will be out July 12.
