Some folks have mixed emotions about the new MGMT album as they were expecting a repeat of the catchy dance tracks that launched them to success. Instead, “Congratulations” is a beast unto its own. An album fully deserving of a few close repeated listens in order to capture all the magic – and the madness.

The album takes you on a pyschedelic trip at times and, while the title track is one of the most low key musically (and one of my favorites), the video for “Congratulations” reflects some of the stranger inclinations of the band. It shows a strange journey – the band crossing the Mojave Desert with some bird-like creature. Check it out and tune in to Morning Becomes Eclectic for a live performance from the band on October 18.
