I’m a big fan of My Morning Jacket. And for a fan of My Morning Jacket, last month’s KCRW benefit show at the Village Studios was truly an experience of a lifetime (which I heard from many different people that night!). Their full performance — and a revealing interview with frontman Jim James — are now up in the archives and I highly recommend checking it out.

They’re a powerful band to begin with, but in an intimate space – *with SO much history – it was pretty mindblowing.

You can see photos from evening here and a few more below courtesy of photographer Larry Hirshowitz. (Notice the chandelier? As James mentioned on the stage, they were from “A Miracle on 34th Street” and installed as part of a recent renovation!)

*The space that houses the The Village Studios was originally built as a Masonic temple in the 1920s and later became the L.A. headquarters of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It has also been home to so many recording artists I can’t list them all here. Just a few: Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Rolling Stones to Lady Gaga and Foo Fighters.
