New My Morning Jacket – Circuital

My Morning Jacket is back and offering the title track off their new album “Circuital” as a free download on their website. You can also stream it below.

They returned home to Louisville, KY to record their latest studio release, which will be out on May 31. They holed up in a church gym they converted into a recording space. MMJ is one of the best live bands around and they sought to capture that in the studio this go around, with guitarist Carl Broemel improvising his solos on the spot instead of composing them beforehand. I watched a video yesterday where singer Jim James was talking about how hot it was in the studio but how he think it actually enhanced their sound.

Their catalog of studio releases are each very different so you never know quite what to expect. The opener, however, is as epic as your would hope. Enjoy!
