It may not be be Berkeley in 1968, but today thousands of college students across the country are planning to walk out of their classes and protest soaring tuition, shrinking curriculums, and cuts to public higher education budgets. It’s all part of a day of protest dubbed

“Occupy Colleges.” In California, there will be protests at about 20 campuses, including the University of California Riverside, Los Angeles City College and Cal State Long Beach.

One big goal of students demonstrating in California is to cultivate support for a ballot initiative that, if passed, would raise state taxes on the wealthy. The students hope more revenue could stave off further budget cuts to the state’s public higher education system. Below is a video of CSUN students talking about their financial struggles amidst growing education costs.
