Today on Pan Caliente, we premiere “Dame de tu Corazón,” the newest single from chicha Angelina outfit La Chamba. The track opens with a bachata/chicha-laced interlude and tells the story of two lovers and the trials of growing together and growing apart from each other... but love being the guiding force that decides their destiny.

La Chamba’s sound has been consistently deep rooted in the psychedelic stylings of Peruvian chicha, but they’ve continually made it their own, adding the City of Angels’ charm and swagger. "Chicha Angelina is uniquely born in the desert of Los Angeles and captures the essence of life on the West Coast along with its dreams and heartache,” said Jason Zepeda of La Chamba.

He continued, "Dame de tu Corazón” is inspired by the act of giving from the golden heart within. That heart that moves us to forgive, to let go of suffering, and to bow down to the true power of love.”

Dame de tu Corazón by La Chamba

It’s been an incredibly tough month for the group. On July 25th, Carlos Zaragoza, one of their founding members was gunned down in the Valley along with his father. Carlos was a beaming light, a UCLA grad, an amazing community organizer, and great bassist and musical leader.** Read this great obit by LA Taco.

With all this mayhem swirling around, La Chamba has held strong and feel the only real way to keep honoring their brother Carlos’ memory is to keep making the music that he loved. They embark on an East Coast tour starting 9/5, and they warm up for this next chapter of the band with a headlining slot at the Hi Hat in Highland Park, for the chido/chevere/cool monthly on August 22nd.

** There is an ongoing fundraiser for the Zaragoza family to help with medical costs for Carlos’ mom who survived the shooting as well as funeral coasts for Carlos & his father**
