One of my favorite songs of 2015, now has a video!

Monsieur Perine’s “Nuestra Cancion” is a playful anthem featuring Dominican star Vicente Garcia that conjures up Dixieland jazz bands of yesteryear. And somehow because it’s in Spanish, it still feels fresh & new. No doubt a hit, with over 2 million listens on Spotify, we are honored to premiere Monsieur Periné’s new music video:

(Directed by Christian Schmid Rincon & filmed in the Cundinamarca region of Colombia which is world famous for the beauty and diversity of its flowers.)

Seems a lifetime ago since my buddy Eddie Cota was super-jazzed about this Colombian band he’d booked for his summer series at the Levitt Pavilion. As with many of his shows back in 2012, I went to check them out because he has great taste. Back then there was the tiniest buzz about this swingy, gypsy-jazz outfit that could have easily gone pop. But somehow they stayed strange and in between the lines of genres, and created their own path towards prominence and recognition.

Winners of last year’s “Best New Artist” category at the Latin Grammys, Monsieur Periné, have definitely come into their own. They are in the same vein as Paté de Fuá and Pink Martini, but inject a little more of their heritage into their sound. Along with the release of the video, Monsieur Periné has announced a mini-West Coast tour during April & May, which will be hitting LA on May 2nd at the Echo.

Point Colombia.

Upcoming Tour Dates:

April 27 – Musical Instrument Museum – Phoenix, AZ

April 29 – Isla Vista School – Goleta, CA

May 1 – Marjorie Luke Theatre – Santa Barbara, CA

May 2 – The Echo – Los Angeles, CA

May 3 – Music Box – San Diego, CA

May 5 – The Chapel – San Francisco, CA
